From my own experience, in front of the camera, I know that you have to feel hundred percent comfortable! I work with models as if they are my friends. Talk, laugh, have fun! That gives the best pictures!
RK : First of all, many thanks for accepting our invitation to an interview as our guest photographer. Let us jump into the past. What moved you to photography for the first time?
Nicole Weber : I often stood as a model in front of the camera. Through that I already learned a lot about photography and image editing. In 2016, I wanted to implement my own ideas and was allowed to test this on a friendly model. After that came many requests from other models.
RK :When did you realize that you wanted to do photography as a career?
Nicole Weber : That was never planned. It just happened. Requests came, and I did it. It's the best part of turning your passion into a job!
RK :Which photographers of the past or present have influenced you the most?
Nicole Weber : Many photographers have influenced me. Through magazines and social media, I always get inspiration.
RK :How would you define your style?
Nicole Weber : Fashion mixed with sensual. no bright colors, special image looks and also like black and white.
RK :Your projects are a collaborative process. Tell us what it's like to always work with new stylists, models and designers.
Nicole Weber : This is something of the most beautiful. To meet so many new people. All with a passion and to exchange.
RK :You have clearly worked with a variety of models. What tips can you recommend to people who want to expand their portfolio?
Nicole Weber : When you start taking photos, it is better to work with professional models. You can focus on your camera and do not have to give much instructions.
RK :How important is communication during a shoot when working with a model?
Nicole Weber : Very important! From my own experience, in front of the camera, I know that you have to feel 100% comfortable! I work with models as if they are my friends. Talk, laugh, have fun! That gives the best pictures!
RK :What qualities make a perfect shot for you?
Nicole Weber : Perfect combination of light, location and model gives me the perfect shot.
RK :What effect do you expect in the fashion world over the next 10-15 years?
Nicole Weber : It never gets boring and the fashion continues to develop.
RK :How much equipment do you usually bring with you for a photo shoot?
Nicole Weber : My Canon 5d Mark III, with the 85mm 1.2, I use almost always. I have: 35mm, 50mm, and the 70-200mm ,I work almost exclusively with natural light. Depending on the light situation but my flash of Priolight is used.
RK :How much planning is there from conception to the post process in a shoot?
Nicole Weber : This varies depending on the order. It may be that much is planned and weeks before everything is prepared. But usually, everything is very spontaneous.
RK :How do you light your photos? Do you use artificial or natural light?
Nicole Weber : Almost exclusively natural light. Unless it does not suit the lighting situation or in studio photography I use artificial light.
RK :How would you describe your photographic vision? What kind of feeling are you trying to create in your photos?
Nicole Weber : This varies depending on the order. Since the focus is different. It is important to me that the pictures always have style.
RK :Which of the images you have made in your career so far is your favorite and why?
Nicole Weber : One of my favorites is clearly the eye picture. Everything fits. I love the reflection in the eyes. Everyone interprets the picture differently. The picture speaks for me.
RK :Could you please share the happiest moment in your photography life?
Nicole Weber : There are so many happy moments! My best friends, i would not know if I had not started taking pictures.
The most beautiful is also when people get the pictures and their reactions.
RK :We (Retro Kolkata) try to build a single stage for all artists because we believe that artists are the most beautiful creation of God and that geographical boundaries can never break their unity and harmony. Please say something about our initiative and a special message to your followers.
