Please be yourself. You don't need to follow others. You would need to push at times. Do that. But don't lose yourself in the process.
RK : First of all, thanks a lot for accepting our invitation for an interview. Please say something about you. About your career as a fashion blogger influencer & model. How did you get started?
Anushka : I had a small online Jewelry business. I mainly used to shoot for that and post. The response was good. It's that when brands started contacting for collaborations. It was then that I was properly introduced to this whole new concept of blogging.
RK : You have an exceptionally unique look. Where does your style savvy come from, and where do you get your inspiration?
Anushka : I guess the primary lessons were from my mother. My mother has very keen eye in detailing and great at putting stuffs together. And she's very critical when she doesn't like anything. So she was definitely the main influence. The other inspiration is Princess Diana. I love how ahead of time she was. Simple, yet elegant.
RK : Do you see yourself as a “Blogger & influencer”, and if so, what does that mean to you?
Anushka : I think the word "influencer" is just too heavy. I don't have the audacity to claim myself as an "influencer". I hope, someday, I would be wise enough to influence people's lives in a positive way.
As for blogging, I think it's a medium to express yourself and connect with others.
RK : When did you start blogging/ social media, and what was your motivation for getting started?
Anushka : I started a year back just before the Durga Puja, I guess.
What got me started was my jewelry business.
RK : How do you get involved with your followers and find the best way to give them the content they want?
Anushka : Finding the best way to curate the content is tough. Something that works for someone might not work for you or you yourself might not be willing to do. So the best way is be yourself, do what you like, and meanwhile go through a lot of trials and errors to figure out what works for you best.
RK : What are the three essential elements of fashion that every girl should have?
Anushka : (i) Most importantly the right kind of lingerie. I have women ruining their outfits by wearing the wrong size/kind of bras.
(ii) Red lipstick, definitely
(iii) Perfumes and Comfortable heels (at least one pair, for those extra inches of confidence).
RK : If you were to give someone advice who is thinking about getting into social media and the world of influencing, what would it be? How about fashion blogging?
Anushka : Please be yourself. You don't need to follow others. You would need to push at times. Do that. But don't lose yourself in the process. If you are doing something extraordinary, great. Keep doing that. If you're not doing something extraordinary, that's great too. You need to first find your place and then thrive. And take your time. You don't need to run.
RK : What’s your beauty regime? Would you like to share some of your best beauty secrets?
Anushka : I normally try not to put on makeup in general, of course lipstick is not makeup. As I spent a long time of the day in ac, I try to keep my skin hydrated by moisturizing and drinking a lot of water.
There's no secret as such. Try to keep your skin clean and hydrated. Avoid using makeup when not necessary. And please use sunscreen.
RK : How do you stay in Shape?
Anushka : I recently have been trying to avoid junks and eat healthy. I'm too lazy to workout.
RK : Do you have a skin care routine?
Anushka : Yes, everyday after returning home, I properly clean my face with makeup remover (if needed), followed cleansing lotion and face wash. Recently I have started using Clinique's moisturizer. Followed by lip balm. And I'm done.
RK : Do you have any Beauty/Skin Care tips or Tricks to look fresh and rested for early morning Photo shoot?
Anushka : The best trick is getting proper sleep (8hours atleast). Believe me, there's no other substitute. I try to take power naps wherever possible.
RK : Do you have any upcoming events or announcements you wish to share?
Anushka : Nothing as such.
RK : Give us 5 fun facts people might not know about you yet.
Anushka : (I) I have read a thousand books but haven't finished any of them. I still don't know the endings of most of the novels that I have read.
(ii) I always stay busy doing something or the other. I get a complete day off once in every 3-4 months (I work on holiday trips too).
(iii) I love traveling. Every year we go for at least 2-3 trips.
(iv) I love cooking.
(v) This is an incident. I have had been robbed of my entire wardrobe(yes, I was carrying every piece of clothing I had) and ended up in a pair of jeans and a top (which I was wearing) in some unknown city when I was traveling for my job.
RK : We (Retro Kolkata) are trying to build one single stage for all the artists, because we believe that artists are the most beautiful creation of God and geographical boundary can never break their unity and harmony.
