Banaras, India – October 6, 2024: The historic city of Kashi, also known as Shiv Nagari, comes to life through the lens of renowned photographer Manish Khattry in his latest exhibition, “Timeless Kashi,” inaugurated today at Jogai Banaras - The Art Gallery. The exhibition, which will run from October 6 to October 21, 2024, was officially opened by prominent figures Hiralal Prajapati, Dinesh Khanna, Raj Sarkar, and Sunil Viswakarma, alongside a gathering of esteemed photographers, including Manoj Kar, Majit Bhaskar, Priyodip Halder, Binay Rawal, Ajoy Upasini, and Ashis Kumar.
A son of Kashi himself, Manish Khattry captures the city's unique and sacred essence through a series of evocative images that reflect its deep-rooted traditions, spiritual vitality, and the eternal cycle of life and death. Known for its profound connection to Lord Shiva, Kashi represents not just a place, but a timeless idea where death is seen not as an end, but a transition—echoing the city's centuries-old spiritual ethos.
The “Timeless Kashi” exhibition offers a platform for both amateur and professional photographers to participate and display their work, free of cost, fostering an inclusive artistic community. Through Khattry’s photographs, viewers will witness the everyday life and rituals of Kashi, where the divine and human coexist in harmony, and where compassion and spirituality form the very fabric of existence.
Visitors to the exhibition will be transported into the soul of Kashi, experiencing the city's sacred ghats, ancient temples, and vibrant streets through powerful imagery that portrays the interconnectedness of life, death, and devotion.
