Introducing Atul Kumar Yadav, emerging Photographer from Lucknow



Retro Kolkata : First of all Heartiest congratulations for your selection in Retro Kolkata Magazine Green Edition. Please introduce yourself. Tell us about your background.

Atul : My name is Atul Kumar Yadav. I'm 19 year old. I live in Lucknow Uttar Pradesh. I completed my schooling from Rani Laxmi Bai Lucknow. Presently, I am doing bachelor in photography from AAFT college Noida (U.P).


Retro Kolkata : How important is photography to you? How did you start photography?

Atul : Photography is very important to me as I am pursuing my career in photography I want to become a professional photographer and want to learn new things in future.

My interest in photography started since I was in school and during pandemic period social media has dragged me more closer towards it especially Instagram. I was much impressed by Vineet Vohra Sir.



Retro Kolkata : What motivates and inspires you as a photographer?

Atul : Initially, when I had started photography the reaction, the excitement, the applaud of people motivated me and later I felt that what really motivated me was exploring new things, places, meeting people's, learning their cultures were the element that put me in right path in my journey.


Retro Kolkata : Which genre of photography do you like and What inspires you? Which masters of photography have inspired you in your photographic work?

Atul : I like street and travel photography and the work of masters that motivated me is Vineet Vohra and Pubarun Basu.



Retro Kolkata : What type of camera, lenses and lighting equipment do you use?

Atul : I use lumix S5 and the kit lens f3.5-5.6. I usually do street photography in daylight so I never used any lighting equipment.


Retro Kolkata : What subjects inspire you and prompt you to look for the shot?

Atul : I like to play with shadow and light and what inspires me is to mould new creative images from it.

Retro Kolkata : Do you prefer black and white shots or colour?

Atul : I prefer colour images.



Retro Kolkata : What is the best project you have worked on and how did you get involved with it?

Atul : I have worked on different college projects and lately I finished most remarkable project that is "Yamuna maange paani".


Retro Kolkata : Where would you like to be in 10 years time and what are you going to do in the next 6 months to get closer to that goal?

Atul : I see myself as a professional photographer with many awards and achievements.

To do so I will relentlessly do Hard work with punctuality and determination.
