Retro Kolkata : First of all Heartiest congratulations for your selection in Retro Kolkata Magazine Green Edition. Please introduce yourself. Tell us about your background.
Chirag : Thank you team Retro Kolkata Magazine Green Edition. My name is Chirag Bhatia, Born, brought up, and lived with my parents in Safidon in Haryana, I've done Bachelor in Architecture in 2020 and also had experience working in Architecture & Interior design firms.
Retro Kolkata : How important is photography to you? How did you start photography?
Chirag : It is one of a way that I like to express my thoughts, what I see it maybe good or something bad sometimes, a moment or more than that when something is your way of expression it automatically becomes important to you.
I started photography in 2015, when one of my friends showed me his mobile photography skills, I got curious and started traveling to click good photos with my phone, that's how it started, and start learning it with time.
Retro Kolkata : What motivates and inspires you as a photographer?
Chirag : This world, people, nature, man-made things, everything around us happening, To capture it share it that tells a story , that make someone to think about it, that motivates me to do photography.
Retro Kolkata : Which genre of photography do you like and What inspires you? Which masters of photography have inspired you in your photographic work?
Chirag : I like Architectural and Documentary photography most, My Love for architectural wonders makes me capture their beauty of them and their design details, In documentary, I like to capture portraits and their activities which tells a story itself.
Honestly saying I didn't follow anyone, I think my surrounding people wherever I travel, what they do, is my master of photography that inspired me in photography.
Retro Kolkata : What type of camera, lenses and lighting equipment do you use?
Chirag : All I have Android Motorola Phone, I don't have DSLR, lens, or any other Lighting equipment.
I won 2 times Motorola Mobile Photography contests, where I won the Phone, which I used for Photography, so only using my Phone for Photography for the last 7 years.
Retro Kolkata : What subjects inspire you and prompt you to look for the shot?
Chirag : People and their activities.
Retro Kolkata : Do you prefer black and white shots or colour?
Chirag : It depends upon the scene and picture which I shot, Black and white mostly to differentiate the contrast of shadow and light, to show some particular details, or can be used in where the subject is more important than colors.

Retro Kolkata : What is the best project you have worked on and how did you get involved with it?
Chirag : I participated in a contest where we have to submit a photo story about a Farmer, I documented it using my phone, talked to a farmer about it, and clicked with him and his family from early morning 5 am to night, how he and his family woke up and start working, that's basically to show the life of a farmer, the title of the story was " The Gentleman ".
It came in the Top 100 in India.
Retro Kolkata : Where would you like to be in 10 years time and what are you going to do in the next 6 months to get closer to that goal?
Chirag : I would like to be in 10 years financially independent, more peaceful, and happy.
In the next 6 months, I'll start with a small business with the capital that I have and let it grow with my skills.
But I'll keep clicking that for sure I know.
