Retro Kolkata : First of all Heartiest congratulations for your selection in Retro Kolkata Magazine Green Edition. Please introduce yourself. Tell us about your background.
Indranil : Hi, I am Indranil Saha, age 25,born and brought up at a small town Mathabhanga, district Coochbehar, West Bengal, India but now I lives in Kolkata for study. I completed My M.sc in applied geology from Techno India University.
Retro Kolkata : How important is photography to you? How did you start photography?
Indranil : Photography is a very important part of my life, we can't work if we don't sleep well as also I can't feel well if I don't go out photo walk two or three times in a week. This photography always gives me positive energy, Every day I make many mistakes while taking pictures and
I learn from those mistakes and try to improve myself. and My journey with this photography started in the year 2017.
Retro Kolkata : Which genre of photography do you like and What inspires you? Which masters of photography have inspired you in your photographic work?
Indranil : My favourite genre in photography is street and documentary. I like the work of many photographers, but my all time favourite photographer is Raghu Ray sir. One thing I believe is that the more you see the work of a good photographer, the more you learn.
Retro Kolkata : What type of camera, lenses and lighting equipment do you use?
Indranil : I am using nikon d5300 camera and lenses which i am using now, nikon 18-55 mm lens,nikon 50mm 1.8g,nikon 35mm 1.8g, nikon 70-300 mm. And also my Mobile camera is same valuable part in my Photography.
Retro Kolkata : What subjects inspire you and prompt you to look for the shot?
Indranil : For me photography is the art of choosing a story from the many visuals around us. Me as a photographer the witnesses to the history happening right in front of our eye and the camera is our tool to capture it for future generations . photos are the memory of ours life. so to create story throughout the image have become my hobbies.
Retro Kolkata : Do you prefer black and white shots or colour?
Indranil : yes,I always prefer black and white Photography.And I love black and white pictures.
Retro Kolkata : Could you please share the happiest moment in your photography life?
Indranil : Most precious moment in my photography journey is in the year 2020 I was awarded by the Ministry of Tourism ( CENTRAL GOVT) in heritage category.
My work also published 3 times in a International magazine.
In this year I was the winner of Photography festival 2022 which was organised by NSHM knowledge campus associated with CANON INDIA. Here my ALL INDIA RANK WAS 1
AND recently Again I was awarded by the ADAMAS UNIVERSITY with associated Sony India, here my all India rank was 2 in human expression category.
I always keep one thing in mind and I want to tell everyone that
"You don't take the picture that everyone takes"
