Retro Kolkata : First of all Heartiest congratulations for your selection in Retro Kolkata Magazine Green Edition. Please introduce yourself. Tell us about your background.
Jayesh : Hello. I am Jayesh Rajput, Nandurbar based (Currently living in pune) hobby photographer. In second year of my engineering, I bought new phone and started photography. I am doing photography from last seven years from phone. I love to click architecture, portraits from diverse background, nature, landscape, astro, and stories from fedtival. I am Mechanical Engineer by profession and currently working at Devise Electronics Pvt. Ltd as a design engineer. Recently I have secure 9th rank in 'Through My Lens' exhibition organized by Maharashtra Tourism. Secure 111 rank in 'Face of India contest' by 35Award International. Also my work has been featured in 'The Talented Indian' Magazine and 'Indian Talent Magazine'. Three photographs were exhibited in 'Click Photography Exhibition'
Retro Kolkata : How important is photography to you? How did you start photography?
Jayesh :Photography is as Important as oxygen to human beings. I started photography from very basic 12mp phone and did phone photography from same phone for 5 years. Then I upgraded to new 64mp phone. After two years, I recently bought new camera.
Retro Kolkata : What motivates and inspires you as a photographer?
Jayesh :You can freeze the time in your photographs. Those memories which stored in my photographs inspired me to create and store more memories like that.
Retro Kolkata : Which genre of photography do you like and What inspires you? Which masters of photography have inspired you in your photographic work?
Jayesh :I am involved in multiple genre. I do Astro photography, street, travel, nature and landscape, macro of insects, fashion portraits, portraits from diverse background, stories of festivals. My main master for photography is University of Google. Apart from that, people like Sudhir Shivram, Auditya Venkatesh, Inspired me.
Retro Kolkata : What type of camera, lenses and lighting equipment do you use?
Jayesh :I use Samsung F41, and sony A73 with 28-70mm kit lens.
Retro Kolkata : What subjects inspire you and prompt you to look for the shot?
Jayesh :Anything from which I can deliver some message, that inspire me.
Retro Kolkata : Do you prefer black and white shots or colour?
Jayesh :It’s mostly depends on the mood of photo, and what I want to deliver. Depends on that I decide I want black or colourful image.
Retro Kolkata : What is the best project you have worked on and how did you get involved with it?
Jayesh :I have documented Wari festival. From last 5 years, I am covering this festival. As I am very much interested to cover festivals, I involved myself in this project.
