Retro Kolkata : First of all Heartiest congratulations for your selection in Retro Kolkata Magazine Green Edition. Please introduce yourself. Tell us about your background.
Prasad : My name is Prasad, and I live in Thrissur, Kerala, with my family. I work as a pharmacist and I like to take photos in my free time.
Retro Kolkata : How important is photography to you? How did you start photography?
Prasad : Photography is a part of my life now. I spend most of my free time for photography.
I started photography by attending a one day photography course I saw on facebook.
Retro Kolkata : What motivates and inspires you as a photographer?
Prasad : As a photographer I am interested in taking all kinds of photos. But I am more interested in taking action photos.
Retro Kolkata : Which genre of photography do you like and What inspires you? Which masters of photography have inspired you in your photographic work?
Prasad : I mostly take wildlife photos. In that I prefer to capture action pictures. The photographs of many people have inspired me. I can't mention just one person's name because everyone's frame is different.
Retro Kolkata : What type of camera, lenses and lighting equipment do you use?
Prasad : My first camera was Canon 1200D.Then I used Canon 70D. Now I use Canon 7D Mark 2 camera and Canon 400mm lens, 50mm, 70-300mm, and 18-135mm lens.
Retro Kolkata : What subjects inspire you and prompt you to look for the shot?
Prasad : I want to capture unique and different pictures of wild animals. For example I like to capture the expressions of love between a mother and child.
Retro Kolkata : What exactly is wildlife and natural habitat conservation & why is it important ? How can you as a photographer help protect wildlife and conservation?
Prasad : Wildlife conservation is the effort to protect our environment and natural habitats, so that our planet maintains its balance and our future generations get to experience it.
By capturing beautiful images of animals and birds, a photographer can make people more aware about wildlife and help everyone develop more compassion towards the natural world. This is what I hope to achieve.
Retro Kolkata : What is the best project you have worked on and how did you get involved with it?
Prasad : The best project I have worked with is the bird survey at Malampuzha in kerala. I got this opportunity after receiving an invitation from a bird watchers group.
Retro Kolkata : Where would you like to be in 10 years time and what are you going to do in the next 6 months to get closer to that goal?
Prasad : In the next 10 years, I would like to inspire many more young people to get into photography and become a reason for bringing more awareness towards nature and wildlife.
In the next 6 months, I want to improve my photography and produce my best work. Also, I hope to participate in a photography exhibition.
