Introducing Susavan Aditya, Emerging Wildlife Photographer from West Bengal



Retro Kolkata : First of all Heartiest congratulations for your selection in Retro Kolkata Magazine Green Edition. Please introduce yourself. Tell us about your background.

Susavan : My self Susavan Aditya, Originally from Burdwan, West Bengal, and stays in Bangalore. I am a professional VFX Artist, I work for Technicolor India Pvt. Ltd. as a VFX Team Lead.

I basically work for Hollywood Movies.


Retro Kolkata : How important is photography to you? How did you start photography?

Susavan : I started Photography seriously few years back, when I visited Bandipur National park with a basic gears and only for family trip, there I captured few elephants and one tiger image and very next day I visited Ranganthittu Bird Sanctuary and those two days amazed me how crazy this field is and immediately I upgraded my gears and started study on photography.



Retro Kolkata : Which genre of photography do you like and What inspires you? Which masters of photography have inspired you in your photographic work?

Susavan : I usually like to capture wildlife birds. And to grow my skill Mr. Sudhir Shivram helped me a lot.

There are many more great photographers whom I follow regularly, Like David Lloyd, Roie Galitz, Felix Rome, Varun Aditya, Jayanth Sharma, Frans Lanting, Thomas Vijayan and many more.



Retro Kolkata : What type of camera, lenses and lighting equipment do you use?

Susavan : I am a Nikon person. I use Nikon D850 , D7500 and Z6 mark2 bodies and Nikkor 500mm f4 , 70-200mm f2.8, 200-500mm f5.6 and 35mm f1.8 lenses.


Retro Kolkata : What subjects inspire you and prompt you to look for the shot?

Susavan : Any good frame or action or anything which I like I shoot.
