In a significant recognition of his photographic prowess, Kuntal Paul, an amateur photographer from Bhubaneswar, the Temple City of India, has been nominated as an exhibitor for the 'AURA 2024 - International Photography & Art Exhibition'. This prestigious event, initiated by Retro Kolkata Magazine, is scheduled to be held at Nazrul Tirtha, Newtown, Kolkata, from January 13 to January 21, 2024.
The exhibition will be a two-part showcase, with the art exhibition taking place from January 13 to January 15, followed by the photography exhibition from January 18 to January 20. The event will culminate in a felicitation ceremony on January 21.
Kuntal Paul, primarily a travel photographer, excels in capturing location portraits, men at work, local traditions, and religious activities. His work reflects a deep connection with the places he visits, bringing forth the essence of each location through his lens. His achievements include holding an LRPS distinction from The Royal Photographic Society, AFIP from the Federation of Indian Photography, and AFIAP from the International Federation of Photographic Art.
His images have gained international acclaim, being accepted in various salons recognized by the Photographic Society of America. Notably, his image of a Spotted Indian Deer, shot at Nandankanan Zoological Garden in Bhubaneswar, was among the top ten entries in the Sony World Photography Awards 2012 under the Nature & Wildlife category. He also entered the final rounds of the Travel Photographer of the Year in 2011 and 2012 and received Honorable Mentions in the International Photography Awards in 2010, 2011, and 2012.
