Retro Kolkata Magazine has officially announced Rajesh Gupta, an eminent photographer & Canon Cinema EOS Ambassador from India, as the 'Iconic International Photographer' and Guest Exhibitor for the much-anticipated 'AURA 2024 - International Photography & Art Exhibition'. The prestigious event is scheduled to be held at Nazrul Tirtha, Newtown, Kolkata, from January 13 to January 21, 2024. The art exhibition will take place from January 13 to January 15, followed by the photography exhibition from January 18 to January 20, culminating in a grand felicitation ceremony on January 21.
Rajesh Gupta, a multifaceted artist born in the summer of '69 in Kolkata, is a remarkable blend of a commerce student, theatre artist, accomplished cook, and an obsessive photographer. His journey in the arts began with a deep connection to theatre, which eventually led him to fall in love with photography. Gupta’s work reflects a unique language made up of colors, expressions, and skills, capturing moments where words fail to narrate emotions.
With a career spanning over three decades, Rajesh Gupta has performed in more than 300 stage shows across India. His understanding of light compositions and stagecraft, honed while working with luminaries like Tapas Sen and Usha Ganguly, has greatly influenced his photographic style. Specializing in Artistic Portrait, Fashion, and Food Photography, Rajesh Gupta is a self-taught photographer whose work has garnered international acclaim.
Rajesh Gupta's notable achievements include a silver medal from FIAP for his Portrait Photography at the China 11th International Photographic Art Exhibition in 2005 and a prestigious portrait shoot of Oscar-winning lyricist Gulzar. In 2011, he presented a photo-essay on Japan's cultural heritage for the Japan National Tourism Board.
In addition to his photographic pursuits, Rajesh Gupta is the Brand Ambassador for Canon India and the owner of Rajesh Gupta Photography. He also serves as a Senior Faculty at the International Institute of Photography and the CEO of Edibleart by Rajesh Gupta, where he explores his passion for Indian and fusion cooking.
