Retro Kolkata Exclusive : Interview with Fashion Beauty & Lifestyle Influencer Saanya Khatter

You have to keep your feed real and be ethical, and make this your priority (instead of money). Being paid for creating content doesn’t mean it’s not real, or at least it shouldn’t mean that. I always try to test the products I’m showcasing to give a real and clear message to my followers. Luckily, I also work with a lot of brands I’ve been using for years, so I always keep it honest. Mostly It’s just intuition. I’m trying to publish things I’d like to see if I were a follower.

RK : First of all, thanks a lot for accepting our invitation for an interview. Please say something about you. About your career as a fashion blogger influencer &model. How did you get started?

Saanya : I’m born and raised in Faridabad, India. I’m 21 years old. While prepping for my graduation in Delhi University, I decided to work as an influencer on Instagram. I think it’s quite an interesting story how I became an influencer . I used to follow all of my favorite bloggers and influencers and thought I could never expose my life that much. By expose I mean to show my daily life, where I go, what I do and what I wear. I was too shy for that but I still wanted to develop and be able to be myself.. That was in 2017.

RK : You have an exceptionally unique look. Where does your style savvy come from, and where do you get your inspiration?

Saanya : I get inspired by a lot of people in the industry but I don’t copy. I watch movies, TV shows. I also get inspired in the streets. When I go out I can also get easily inspired by what I can see out there, whether it is a car, people or buildings.

RK : Do you see yourself as an “Blogger &influencer”, and if so, what does that mean to you?

Saanya : As an influencer, I want to be more influential and inspire more people!. As a person who always wants to develop herself to be the best, I enjoy challenging myself and learning new things.

RK : When did you start blogging/ social media, and what was your motivation for getting started?

Saanya : I started using Instagram actively two and a half years ago and I loved posting my outfits and other fashion related posts a lot. I have always had a huge love for planning my outfits. To be able to interact with all the other fashion lovers. Inspire other people and share my love. Fashion blogging teaches you so many things from different areas. As a person who always wants to develop herself to be the best, I enjoy challenging myself and learning new things through blogging.

Being paid for creating content doesn’t mean it’s not real, or at least it shouldn’t mean that. I always try to test the products I’m showcasing to give a real and clear message to my followers. RK : What are the three essential elements of fashion that every girl should have?

Saanya : White tee and Jeggings and Lip tint and also Sunglasses.

RK : Would you please share with us one fashion prediction you foresee for 2019 or 2020 – either mainstream or alternative?

Saanya : If I had to choose, this would be a pastel color (e.g. light yellow, light blue, light everything). Also, I believe that oversized clothes will become the next trend.

RK : If you were to give someone advice who is thinking about getting into social media and the world of influencing, what would it be? How about fashion blogging?

Saanya : I would say, do it! No matter at what stage are you at, if you like it and have a passion for it you should make those thoughts come true.

RK : What’s your beauty regime? Would you like to share some of your best beauty secrets?

Saanya : I drink the right liquids. I don’t use too many products on my face. The less is more. Most importantly, i sleep well. And since the beginning i have been using Johnson’s baby cream.

RK : How do you stay in Shape?

Saanya : Haha! That’s not really true. I don’t workout. The only thing i do is avoid eating after 7pm. I love hot water with lemon first thing in the morning as a skin detox.

RK : Do you have a skin care routine?

Saanya : I use argan oil as a moisturizer and a cleanser. And when my skin is feeling dry, my number one product I always use Derma Dew Lotion or Johnson’s baby. I am obsessed with it and slather it on my face so much.

RK : Do you have any Beauty/Skin Care tips or Tricks to look fresh and rested for early morning Photo shoot?

Saanya : Keep a note of what you put on your plate. Eat fresh fruits, greens, sufficient protein and vitamins. A diet rich in vitamin C and low in fats and sugar promotes radiant skin. Try to sleep at least 8 hours every night. If you don’t get enough shut eye, your skin gets tired just like you - it sags and you get bags. Hydrate yourself.

RK : What piece of advice would you give to anyone wanting to start a fashion blog?

Saanya : Be constant. Focus on what you really like and set small goals. Also, I think so many people today start blogging expecting to make a profit. Of course, we all want to get rewarded for our time, but the main reason should not be that. I have never met a successful blogger or influencer who doesn’t love what they do and truly enjoy doing it!
