Damsang Fort

The ancient fort, built in 1690 stands today with the honour of being the last home of the Lepcha king- Gyabo Achuk. When the Lepchas lost the fort to the Bhutanese who again lost the fort to the British after the anglo-Bhutan war of 1864, all that remained of it are the ruins, which can be explored today. The earthquake of 2012 destroyed it further.
